I have been pondering this paragraph in the resignation letter of Van Jones:
“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of
reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and
distortions to distract and divide.”
What lies might these be?
That in your own words , you called yourself a communist?
That you suggested that whites deliberately pollute minority neighborhoods?
That you used gutter language to describe Republicans?
That you founded the radical organization called STORM, and were arrested in San Francisco?
Please, anyone, present evidence that any of this is untrue.
Perhaps we should discuss your party’s smear campaigns and threats toward individuals who
spoke out at town halls. They have had threatening phone calls, people showing up at their
homes, and even physical assaults.
For using lies and distortions, one must only look to the White House.
“I have never advocated a single payer option”
“You will be able to keep your present coverage”
“there will be no tax increase for people under $250,000”
The deceit being presented to the People is hollow and obvious. As we await the speech
to the joint session of congress, one more question comes to mind…
Anyone have lipstick for the pig?
I have been pondering the appointment of "czars" by the current administration, and sought wisdom in the words of the Founders. In the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson wrote the following:
"He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance."
It is difficult to ignore the obvious relevancy of this statement to the present day federal government. The czars are unelected, unconfirmed by the representatives of the people, and accountable to no one but Barack Obama. This sole accountability is to a man, not a nation of laws. I find this troubling at the least, and a step towards tyranny at worst.
The cap and trade bill before Congress gives the "green jobs czar" Van Jones a large amount of authority in the implementation of the law. I shall not discuss the obvious conclusion concerning this man's fitness for the position. The fact that power of this nature is given to any government entity, much less an unelected and unconfirmed advisor, is outside the vision of the Founders. Freedom to trade and prosper is at the core of our republic. To burden the economy with what is essentially a tax administered by an unelected and unconfirmed official is to indeed "eat out their substance".
The ecological mythology that is being called science is no basis for a complete change in the nature of our economy. What we face here is essentially a group of priests in the Church of Climate Change. We have a czar who has advocated forced abortions and the placing of sterilization agents into drinking water. We have advisors who claim that the Constitution does not guarantee that one can have more than two children. One could submit that none of these people would ever make it past a confirmation process in Congress.
This abdication of power to unelected officials has been coming for some time. It is not an issue of party. It is something the people have allowed to happen. It is time for the people to stand up and demand a return to limited government.
The President has surrounded himself with advisors that have powers that are traditionally the province of the cabinet members. Their purpose is not to represent the people. The purpose is to advance the collectivist ideals that they share with the President using public funds.
The people are speaking up against this agenda, and have been met with ridicule, scorn, and even physical injury at the hands of the President's supporters. Once again, I am taken back to the Declaration:
"In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people. "

We come here today freely, peaceably , at a time we are faced with a decision concerning the fundamental nature of our nation. Do we allow our government to continue to grow beyond the limits of reason, or do we choose the course defined by the Founders?
The President of the United States has charted the first course. We are told to hope for better, and blindly accept change. We have advisors believe they can put a sliding scale on the value of individual life. We have unelected officers of the state who seek to impose their will upon us without accountability or oversight. We see a debt that both major political parties refuse to contain. We are expected turn a blind eye to corruption, political extortion, and a press no longer committed to truth. We have media corporations who turn a blind eye to all of this, one who’s chairman is rewarded with a seat on the federal reserve board. We are told to blindly hope that the state knows best how we should live our lives.
We are here because we refuse to accept this course. Our course is one of individual liberty, and faith in the ideals of the founders. Our freedom is not something granted by the government and defined by changing political winds. We are here to protect and defend the constitution, which outlines what the people allow the government to do… not what the government allows the people .
We are here because we truly value human life. We believe in the equality of all citizens in the eyes of the government. The state should never be allowed to define the value of a human being’s life in terms of an investment. There is only one Divine soul given to each of us in this life. The timing of that soul’s departure will never be the province of the state.
We are here because we truly believe that the American people are giving, compassionate, and charitable . We can and will take care of the less fortunate of our fellow citizens without the state determining the beneficiaries. Compassion is a personal choice, not a policy decision to be influenced by special interests, hijacked for political gain, or used to create a monument to ego.
We are here because we truly believe that all levels of government need to live within their means. We need to focus the government on its true reason for existence; to protect the nation and the rights of the citizens. We expect the government to focus on these tasks, and not be a tool used for political gain or personal legacy.
We are here because too many have sacrificed to defeat the ideology and manifestations of national socialism to allow it to infect this land. I’d like to tell you about one of those patriots. My uncle Jack was from a small farm town in Minnesota, who found himself in the forests of Belguim in December 1944. His last moments on this earth were as a prisoner of the Nazis in a small town called Malmandy.
We all have Uncle Jack’s in our families who answered the call. There are many of that greatest generation who stand with us today. To be silent at this time would dishonor their legacy of courage.
Above all…we are here because we love this nation.
